“My job is to help you understand your dog—and help your dog understand you.”
- 15 years in law enforcement
- A decade focused on K9
- Multi-agency academy leadership
I founded Salty Dog K9 Training because I want people to enjoy life with their dogs—and have the skills to keep making progress together. Whether you want calmer walks, a reliable recall, or a better understanding of the dog beside you, we start with your goals and build a plan that fits your life.
Before relocating to the Crystal Coast, I spent 15 years in law enforcement, with the last decade focused on K9. I developed and ran a multi-agency K9 academy, testing and selecting young dogs, training dogs and handlers across multiple disciplines, certifying teams, and overseeing their continuing education. Teaching the person holding the leash was essential to everything we did.
That experience taught me that communication goes both ways. We need to make our expectations clear, but we also need to understand what our dogs are telling us. I bring that same focus to every lesson: explain the technique, demonstrate it, then coach you through using it with your own dog. You’ll learn what to do, why it works, and how to practice between sessions. I also continue attending working-dog conferences to keep learning and refining my instruction.
My goal is for you to leave with more than a dog who responds to a trainer. I want you to have the confidence and practical skills to maintain what we’ve taught and build upon it yourself. Completing a program is the beginning of a rewarding, lifelong partnership with your dog.
